Newgrange is a spectacular prehistoric monument in County Meath, Ireland. Located less than one hour from Citywest Hotel it is within easy reach should you decide to extend your stay in Ireland. It was built during the Neolithic period around 3200 BC, making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. The construction required moving 200,000 tonnes of rock over distances of up to 20Km but a staggering level of astrological finesse ensures that the light of the morning sun at sunrise on the 21st of December (the shortest day of the year and winter solstice) illuminates the central chamber. It stands testimony to the ingenuity and industry of the early Irish people. These are characteristics we are ready to demonstrate if chosen to host the World Championships in 2017.
